Michelangelo's "Ideal Head of a Woman" -- Pencil

Michelangelo is the artist being highlighted this month by the Draw-This yahoo art group. This is the picture posted at the group's site for this month. I thought it was a very interesting picture and decided to do her to get some practice drawing portraits.  I don't say I captured every detail right, but I had fun doing her.

  1. Nicely done! It's interesting how "perfection" changes over time, isn't it! nancy

  2. I agree completely with Nancy, this is awesome =) Wait til you see how they define "perfection" back in the dynasties in the chinese history, that'd be funny

  4. I'm with Nancy! Nicely done. And, I'm thinking if she were in Hollywood, she'd have to make a few changes!

  6. Nice work! Interesting how ideals change over time (or maybe Michelangelo had strange taste even for his time?)

  7. Wonderful drawing! I wonder what people in the future will think of all the 'beautiful' botoxed, lifted, implanted, anorexic women that are all over the place today??

  8. I am glad you had fun, I think that is the most important part. But you also did a terrific job too.

  9. Nicely done. Great sketches. I especially applaud you for sketching things outside your comfort zone like those odd shapes.
