Red Rose -- Pencil


This is my first attempt at doing a shaded pencil drawing of a rose. I have wanted to draw one for a while, and have been looking for weeks for a rose to draw.  I finally found the inspiration for this one in a flower magazine last week. It was  fun to do, and I learned a lot drawing it.

    This is a fantastic rose. You've drawn every petal perfectly and your shading has given it a 3D effect.

    If my mom sees this, she'd say "See Alex? Why won't you draw more of these instead?? Those zombies and motorcycles... bleh... ROSES are more beautiful!" And I have to agree with her too if she said that, this is really beautiful I am mesmerized by it. ^^ Thanks for your comments on my drawings and I am glad you like those ice sculptures too.

    excellent well done with the values, the highlighting and shading. Keep this drawing handy for your course....it will come in useful when you get to learning more about values. Well done Ramona!!

    This is really pretty. You did a wonderful job. I could see this printed out on watercolor paper notecards with a pale wash of color over it to make a gift set. Very nice.
